You will discover the Polish pearl, which has not yet become as popular as the Wieliczka salt mine. However, it is the mine in Bochnia that is the oldest developed salt deposit in Poland. You will find a fascinating journey not only deep underground, but also deep in history.

A unique natural, historical and cultural monument can be visited only accompanied by a guide. The biggest attraction of the Bochnia mine is the world’s only ferry crossing of an underground chamber flooded with brine. Tourists cross the distance of 120 m in chamber flooded with brine, accompanied by two raftsmen, who spin colourful tales of the mysterious recesses of the Bochnia mine.

Unique and special attraction of Bochnia Salt Mine is underground interactive exhibition which enables you to know the history of this extraordinary place in a very special way. The tour takes you back in time straight into the kingdom of Bolesław V The Chaste and princess Kinga. The tour guide is constantly supported by ghosts of Polish kings, miners and legendary Cistercian Order which began creation of the mine itself. Regular guided tour takes approximately 3 hours. It covers over 700 hundred steps that is why wearing comfortable shoes is highly recommended. Temperature is constant and around 15ºC. Taking photos is allowed and free of charge. The mine doesn’t provide luggage storage.
